What You Need Before You Start


  • ✅ A Trezor wallet (Model One, Safe 3, Model T, or Safe 5)

  • ✅ Your 24-word seed phrase (or Shamir backup if using Safe 5/Model T)

  • ✅ One of the following metal backups:

    • Trezor Keep Metal 24-word (for standard backup)

How to Use Trezor Keep Metal (24-word & 20-word)



Step 1: Open the Box

Inside you'll find:

  • The metal plate

  • Pre-engraved letter tiles

  • A tile tool and instructions


Step 2: Write Down Your Recovery Phrase


When setting up your Trezor, you’ll be shown either:


  • A 24-word phrase (Model One, Safe 3)

  • Or multiple 20-word Shamir shares (Safe 5, Model T)


WRITE THEM DOWN in order, double-check spelling, and keep them offline.


Step 3: Slide in the Tiles


For each word, insert the first four letters (BIP39 standard) using the tile kit.


Example: If the word is "guess", insert G-U-E-S.


Repeat this for all 24 (or 20) words. Make sure the order is perfect.


Step 4: Store It Securely


  • Place the plate in a safe, fireproof box, or hidden secure location

  • Never store it with your Trezor device
